A coalition of anti-corruption groups in the country, led by the Transparency Initiative Nigeria, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to commence investigation of the activities of a former Bursar of the University of Calabar, Peter Agi, over an alleged lack of transparency in the use of funds.
The coalition said that the probe would serve as a deterrent to others. It also noted that due diligence investigation into the crisis rocking UNICAL had revealed series of malpractices allegedly linked to Agi, describing them as the root of the current crisis between him and the current VC.
When contacted, Agi, who claimed that he was a victim of gang-up, expressed the optimism that he would get justice.
The former bursar said that he ran into trouble after uncovering a fraud in which a miscellaneous account was created as a conduit pipe for siphoning money into the private accounts of a consultant.
