37 students take part in science contest

37 students from various senior secondary schools across the states have participated in the 774 Young Nigerian Scientists Presidential Award competition (774 YONSPA) organized by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the competition, in Abuja, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, said the 37 students were selected from 774 local government areas in the country.

“You represent the best out of 774 local government areas we have in the country. Tests were administered at the various local government areas and then the best from each local government areas now moved to the state level where the best was produced and you represent that best,” the minister said.

He said that the best three students would be recognized at the special ceremony of Technology and Innovation Expo coming up later in this year.
