Students of Hillside School Gwarimpa in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), have donated food items to old people’s home under the care of Amazing Grace Foundation as part of their community service development project.
Speaking shortly after the donation, the leader of the students, Ahmad Rufa’i Bilya Bala, said the donation was made to give elderly people the opportunity to live fulfilled and respected lives. He said about N1 million was spent by the students to purchase the food items.
He said that the gesture came into being when some of the students visited Amazing Grace Foundation and saw an elderly woman in serious pain.
According to him, the donation was part of their annual community service development project in the society.
“We came to Amazing Grace Foundation and we saw an elderly woman in pain and other elderly women and men needed urgent help. Therefore, we decided to assist them with food items and other materials. We want to make them happy and show them love”, the students said.
In his remark, the Director of Amazing Grace Foundation, King Yangnde Madaki Kinang, said that the donation was a sign that the society got new generation that cared for older people.
“The donation is exciting in the sense that for the children at this age to recognize that they have elder people that could take care of it is a sign that we are going to have good and new generation that cares for the elderly,”he said
