Some students gathered at the school to demand improve supply of water and electricity to the school”s hostels earlier today.
Students of Crescent University, Abeokuta on Monday protested against poor living condition in the university’s hostels.
The students who gathered peacefully as early as 6am within the school premises, carried placards with inscriptions such as: “Mr. VC, you must respect our views,” among others, Daily Trust learnt.
According to one of the students who does not want his name mentioned for fear of victimization, “we are protesting against inadequate provision of water and electricity in the school hostels,” adding that “we’re only given water for just one hour per day.”
He added: “we are also protesting the beating up of one of us (students) by four security men attached to the school over personal issues on Saturday.”
“We’re calling for the sack of Dean of Students Affairs for failing to handle and resolve these issues on time,” he said.
However, when contacted on phone today, a staff of the school, Jumoke Olaoran, told Daily Trust that there was no protest at the school.
“Whoever told you that must have something in his cupboard; no such thing is going on here. Let me attend to some students here,” she said, ending the call.
