Education Kaduna spends N600m on textbooks for secondary schools

Kaduna State Government said it has spent N600million to procure textbooks for secondary schools in the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Andrew Nok disclosed this on Tuesday at the flag-off of the distribution of text books for the Northern Zone in Zaria.

According to him, the books which cover all the core subjects will enhance teaching and learning as well as boost students’ performance.

He assured that the state government will procure more books to ensure that all public schools are fully stocked with relevant books.

“Knowledge is power and we must invest appropriately in the education sector. Also, the 5,000 computer tablets produced and uploaded with 300 books would soon be distributed, beginning with 15 boarding schools while additional 55,000 computer tablets will be procured for distribution to other schools,” Prof. Nok said.

He advised the students to make good use of the books and other learning facilities made available to them.

Responding, the Zonal Director of Education (Zaria), Sani Aminu, commended the effort of the state government and urged the school management and teachers to ensure that the huge investment by government is not wasted.
