A nutritionist, Mrs Maimuna Mohammed, has advised Nigerians to increase their daily intake of fruits for healthy living and prevention of diseases.
Mrs Mohammed, who is the Director of Home Economics, Nasarawa State Ministry of Agriculture, made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ob on Monday.
She said that the ministry would continue to educate and sensitise Nigerians on the need to take fruits and other natural foods in order to promote good living.
‘’We are all aware of the importance of fruits such as mangoes, oranges, watermelon and vegetables among other natural foods in boosting the immunity of human being.
“If you are taking these fruits, it will prevent many diseases as well as build up the body, hence the need for Nigerians especially the women to embrace intake of fruits and other natural foods,” she said.
The director advised the intake of at least one orange per day considering its importance and benefit to the human body.
She also cautioned against the consumption of processed food with high sugar and salt because of its health implications.
Mohammed reinstated the commitment of the ministry to good policies and programmes with direct bearing on the lives of the people. (NAN)
