On Tuesday, the 23rd of July, 2024, the Abia State House of Assembly approved and passed a N56bn Bill into Law for what it called “the Services of 17 LGAs” by the Governor Alex Otti, thereby circumventing the recent landmark Supreme Court Judgement granting autonomy to Local Government Councils.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE....CONTINUE READING THE ARTICLE FROM THE SOURCE

Contrary to his campaign promises, Alex Otti has been running the LGA affairs in Abia through his appointed stooges he dubiously christened ‘Mayors’, an appelation that is unknown in both our laws and polity. However, as a way of sidestepping the Supreme Court verdict and continue to spend LGA funds in Abia according to his own whimsies and caprices, Otti caused the lame, subservient and servile Abia State House of Assembly led by an equally listless and colourless Speaker, Emmanuel Emeruwa, to approve the humongous sum of N56bn for him to keep spending LGA funds through a “backdoor legislation” in the name of servicing the councils. The worst of it all was that the approval was backdated to January 2024 so as to be assumed that it preceded the Supreme Court judgement.

Obviously for doing his bidding and for “a job well done”, Alex Otti quickly released the sum of N50m each for the Abia State House of Assembly members the next day after passing the N56bn LGA services funds for him. This is despite the fact that Innoson Motors had earlier been contracted to supply customised vehicles for the House Members and the vehicle manufacturing company was still in the process of meeting up with the contractual agreement before Otti decided to dash the House members N50m each for the purchase of cars of their choice.

Alex Otti’s much vaunted probity starts and ends in the pages of newspapers and the social media which are his primary tools for propaganda, half-truths and outright falsehood with which he deceives the politically gullible and socially vulnerable.>>>CONTINUE FULL READING HERE
