One of the most storied football clubs in the Netherlands, Ajax Amsterdam, has launched a crowdfunding campaign aimed at providing support for their former player, Tijani Babangida.

This initiative comes in the wake of a devastating car accident that occurred in May, which profoundly impacted Tijani Babangida and his family.

The tragic incident took place on the Kaduna-Zaria highway in northern Nigeria, a road that has seen its share of accidents.

Unfortunately, during this horrific event, Babangida lost two family members: his younger brother, Ibrahim, and his young son, Fadil. The emotional toll of such a loss is immeasurable, and it has undoubtedly left Babangida and his remaining family members in a state of grief and shock.

In addition to these heartbreaking losses, Babangida’s wife sustained severe injuries in the accident. Among her ailments are significant facial injuries that resulted in the heartbreaking loss of one eye, alongside the need for extensive reconstructive surgery. The family’s maid also suffered injuries, including a fractured leg, adding to the overall trauma stemming from the incident.

Recognizing the immense challenges that Babangida now faces, a group of his supportive friends from the football community has come together to initiate this crowdfunding campaign.
