The Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmad Aliyu, has announced a monthly payment of ₦10,000 to some selected disabled citizens of the state.

Governor Aliyu, who also distributed 500 handcycles to the disabled in the state, said the initiative was aimed at empowering the disabled community and promoting inclusivity.

Aliyu stated this on Tuesday while marking the World Disability Day. He promised his government would rehabilitate the A. A Raji Special School to create a conducive learning environment for students with special needs.

To further ensure sustained growth and development for people with special needs in our state, we have also made provisions in the 2025 budget to rehabilitate the AA Raji Special School to create a conducive learning environment for students with special needs.

“We have also made provisions to increase the ₦10,000 monthly stipend beneficiaries to 10,000 persons from the current 6,679 on the scheme and also the takeoff of the procurement of the second batch of hand cycles to further enhance the mobility and independence of persons living with disability in the state,” he said.

Governor Aliyu commended the former Governor of the state and also the Senator representing Sokoto North, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for donating 10,000 each to 6,679 persons living with disability to mark the day.

He assured that his administration remains committed to enhancing the standard of living of the people from all walks of life in the state.
