Ancelotti will be counting heads as his players land back in the Spanish capital from stints with their national sides including a number of players on duty in South America.
Despite Ancelotti’s irritation over the situation, he will be pleased by an early return for midfielder Fede Valverde, who misses Uruguay’s second game of the window.
The combative Valverde picked up his second caution of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification in Uruguay’s 0-0 home draw with Paraguay and now misses the trip to Venezuela through suspension.
Valverde is already on route back to Madrid, and will be offered extra rest time, before Ancelotti’s head to Real Sociedad on September 14.
Eder Militao returned early from Brazil duty with a a thigh injury, but reports from Spanish outlet Relevo indicate he will only miss Real Madrid’s next two games, following tests on the issue.
