JUST IN: You Can’t Weaponize Some Things While Deescalating Others,So We Began Deescalation Process-Ememobong

The People’s Democratic Party is taking deliberate steps toward internal reconciliation following Monday’s Court of Appeal judgment, with both factions exploring options to either constitute a harmonised caretaker committee or hold a unity convention ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Factional PDP National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, speaking in a recent interview aired by Arise News, outlined the fragile but determined push for peace within the beleaguered opposition party.

He acknowledged the tensions surrounding simultaneous legal and political manoeuvres, stressing the need for a measured approach to rebuilding trust across divide lines.

“You cannot be weaponizing some things while you’re deescalating another so we had to begin the process of deescalation,” Ememobong stated.

He disclosed that the Board of Trustees had constituted a dedicated committee to interface with the opposing faction, with reconciliation anchored on two non-negotiable principles — that the PDP must remain a credible opposition party and must field competitive candidates at all levels in 2027.
