JUST IN: The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Is One Of The Most Important Economic Corridors In Nigeria–Egoh

According to report by Punch Newspaper on Sunday, April 26, 2026, Oghene Egoh, a former member representing Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has praised President Bola Tinubu for the visible progress recorded in road infrastructure development and the government’s ongoing economic reforms.

Egoh gave the commendation during an interaction with journalists in Lagos on Sunday, where he said the Tinubu administration had shown a clear determination to drive national development through major projects and policy measures designed to strengthen the economy.

He said the government’s actions had continued to reflect a focus on long-term national improvement.

According to him, the continued execution of major road projects across different parts of the country showed a deliberate plan to place Nigeria on a stronger path to sustainable growth.

He said infrastructure development remained one of the most important tools for improving commerce, movement, and access to economic opportunities, adding that the administration’s approach had started yielding visible results.

Egoh specifically pointed to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, describing it as a significant project that could reshape transport and business activity along the coastal corridor.

He said the road would improve connectivity across the affected states, while also creating wider opportunities for tourism, trade, and the blue economy.

He added that the project stood out as one of the boldest infrastructure efforts ever undertaken in the country.

He further said the scale and ambition of the coastal highway reflected a broad vision for economic growth and prosperity.

In his view, the project was not only about road construction, but also about opening up new areas for investment, encouraging regional integration, and supporting sectors that could expand national revenue in the years ahead.

The former lawmaker also referred to the progress being made on the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway, as well as the faster pace of work on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

He said both projects were signs that important transport routes were again receiving the attention they required after years of concern over their condition.

He noted that such corridors were vital to movement, trade, and economic activity across the country.

He added that the renewed emphasis on key road networks would make travel easier for commuters and businesses, while also supporting broader economic recovery efforts.

He said, “The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is one of the most important economic corridors in Nigeria, and its near completion under President Tinubu is commendable.”
