According to a report by The Times Of Israel on July 8, 2026, US President Donald Trump declared that he believes the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran has effectively come to an end following overnight American strikes on Iranian targets. The military action came after Tehran was accused of attacking commercial tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Speaking to reporters before attending a summit of NATO leaders in Ankara, Trump said he no longer saw any value in the agreement with Iran.
