The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has cautioned aspirants seeking election to the National Assembly against falsely linking their ambitions to Governor Biodun Oyebanji, insisting that the governor has not endorsed any candidate.
In a statement issued by the State Chairman of the party, Olusola Elesin, on Thursday, the APC said its attention had been drawn to claims by some aspirants that they had secured the backing of the governor for their respective bids.
Describing such claims as “entirely false”, the party clarified that Governor Oyebanji remains neutral and has not declared support for any individual seeking to represent the state at the National Assembly.

“The APC wishes to inform the general public that some individuals aspiring to represent the state in the National Assembly have been misrepresenting Governor Biodun Oyebanji as having endorsed them as his preferred candidates. This is entirely false,” the statement read.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal democracy, the party stressed that all aspirants are free to canvass support and present their manifestos to the electorate without interference.
“The APC is a democratic party that believes in the principle of free and fair competition, and all aspirants are at liberty to campaign without restraint,” Elesin added.
The party further warned that it would not tolerate any act capable of undermining its democratic processes, urging aspirants to refrain from name-dropping or dragging party leaders into their campaigns without authorisation.
It also called on residents of Ekiti State to verify political claims through official party channels, assuring that the process leading to the National Assembly elections would be transparent and equitable.
The APC reiterated its commitment to providing a level playing field for all aspirants, noting that fairness and credibility would remain the guiding principles of the party’s electoral processes.
