Kwara Govt Accelerates Efforts to Return Out-of-School Children to Classrooms in Moro LG
According to a report by Guardian on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in a robust effort to tackle the persistent challenge of out-of-school children, the Kwara State Government has intensified educational interventions in Moro Local Government Area, significantly boosting enrollment in community schools. This initiative is part of the broader drive by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to ensure inclusive access to quality education across Kwara.
The issue came to the public eye following a report highlighting a high number of out-of-school children in the Kanbi Hausa community within Moro. Reacting promptly, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq mandated immediate action to address the situation. Under his directive, SUBEB, led by Chairman Prof. Shehu Adaramaja, procured and distributed essential school materials, including uniforms, writing supplies, and furniture, to the Kanbi Hausa LGEA Primary School.
The impact of these interventions was swift and substantial, with the pupil registration at the affected school soaring from 178 to 672 within a five-week period. Recognizing this growth, the state government also commissioned the construction of additional classrooms to accommodate the influx of students. These new facilities are expected to be ready in three weeks, reflecting the administration’s commitment to sustainable educational infrastructure development.
Beyond material support, the government distributed 90 chairs and tables, 350 school uniforms complete with hijabs, and 750 packs of exercise books and writing tools to students. These efforts are complemented by ongoing community engagement to encourage parents and guardians to enroll their children in school.
Community leaders have warmly welcomed the government’s proactive approach, acknowledging the importance of education in securing a better future for the children of Moro. They credit the state’s commitment to removing barriers to education as a vital step in addressing socio-economic challenges at the grassroots level.
