A witness, Ayobami Adesoga has described how he briefly assisted Osas Azenabor on the day he was reportedly arrested before his later disappearance from the Ketu Police Station in Lagos State.
Adesoga made the disclosure during an interview with Punch Newspapers, recounting the moment he encountered Azenabor inside a korope, a commercial minibus commonly used for public transportation in Lagos. According to him, the encounter happened near the police station shortly after Azenabor had been taken into custody.
The witness explained that Azenabor recognized him and called out to him from inside the vehicle. Adesoga said they were familiar with each other from past contribution transactions they had carried out together several years earlier.
During the brief interaction, Azenabor reportedly requested to use his phone so he could reach his wife. Adesoga said Azenabor explained that he did not have his phone with him at the time and needed a way to inform his family about his situation.
Narrating the incident, Adesoga said, “He Said I should please borrow him my phone, that his phone is not with him that he ran out of call card, which I did. Then he made phone call to call his wife.”
Adesoga added that he handed over his phone and allowed Azenabor to make the call before he continued on his way. According to him, that moment was the last time he saw Azenabor.
The disappearance of Azenabor has since raised serious concerns among family members and observers, who say he was taken by authorities but has not been accounted for since that day in 2024.
