U.S. President Donald Trump has criticised the United Kingdom over what he described as a delayed offer of military support in the escalating conflict with Iran, declaring that Washington no longer needs assistance after already securing victory on the battlefield.
Trump made the remarks in a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, reacting to reports that Britain was considering deploying two aircraft carriers to the Middle East.
Addressing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer directly, the U.S. leader said Washington would remember the timing of London’s response.

She passed on Monday, March 2, 2026 at her Ile Toki home, Balogun Ibikunle Street, Ayeye, Ibadan; and was laid to rest the same day according to Islamic rites.

The Federal Government is currently assessing the possible economic impact of the growing conflict in the Middle East on the national economy as the parties involved in the crisis show no signs of backing down soon.
One of the immediate fallouts of the hostilities is the rise in crude oil price to $90 per barrel at the international market and the hike in the cost of petrol in Nigeria to over N1,000 in many parts of the country.
Government has also set in motion machinery to evacuate Nigerians, most of them students, in Iran.

The Federal Government has declared that it will not tolerate any sanctuary for terrorists seeking to displace Nigerians or occupy any part of the nation’s territory, following renewed insurgent attacks in parts of Borno State.
Vice President Kashim Shettima made the declaration on Saturday while reacting to recent insurgency incidents, including abductions in Ngoshe community and coordinated assaults on military formations in Konduga, Marte, Jakana and Mainok.
According to him, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already ordered a swift mobilisation of Nigeria’s security architecture to confront the attackers and restore stability in the affected areas.
