According to Anadolu Agency, In a fiery address to parliament, Iran’s top legislative official issued a grave warning regarding the ongoing military actions in the region, stating that the continued targeting of civilians could lead to a wider, uncontrollable conflict.
Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, condemned recent strikes on residential areas, emphasizing that such actions cross a critical red line.
His comments come amid heightened tensions following a series of exchanges between Israeli forces and militant groups, which have resulted in significant civilian casualties in densely populated neighborhoods.
Without naming specific state actors, Qalibaf framed the violence as a threat to regional stability that could spiral beyond the current theater of conflict. He called on international bodies to intervene before the situation deteriorates further.
“The killing of people and attacks on residential areas will have uncontrollable consequences, said Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf during the legislative session.
The Speaker’s rhetoric aligns with Iran’s longstanding policy of supporting allied groups in the region and often serves as a precursor to diplomatic demarches at the United Nations. Political analysts suggest the statement is intended both as a deterrent against further strikes and as a reassurance to Iran’s allies of Tehran’s continued political backing.
There was no immediate reaction from Western or Israeli officials regarding Qalibaf’s specific remarks. However, the warning underscores the fragility of the current security situation, where miscalculations or continued civilian deaths could potentially ignite a broader war.
