Appeal Court Judgment: Key PDP Leaders Gather in Bauchi to Chart Party’s Way Forward

The Board of Trustees, BoT, convened an emergency meeting on Tuesday at the lodge of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.

The meeting was chaired by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara and attended by key party figures, including Tanimu Turaki, Umar Damagum, ex-PDP Deputy National Chairman Bode George, former Information Minister Jerry Gana, former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, and several other prominent members.

In his opening remarks, Wabara described Monday’s judgment by the Court of Appeal as “an opportunity for the PDP to begin afresh,” signaling a new chapter for the party.

Earlier, the caretaker committee led by Turaki also held a briefing, welcoming the Court of Appeal’s decision as a validation of their leadership.

The committee confirmed it would proceed with plans for the national convention, scheduled for later this month.

UGAMATV reports that the Court of Appeal had on Monday upheld a Federal High Court ruling that restrained the PDP from holding its national convention.

The appellate court dismissed an appeal filed by the Turaki-led faction, which claims leadership of the party following last year’s convention in Ibadan, where members of the National Working Committee (NWC) were elected.

In response, the Turaki faction announced that its legal team would immediately approach the Supreme Court to challenge the judgment. See more
