Joseph Joy, a witness to the building collapse in the Aguda area of Ogba in , has recounted the alarming moments she observed shortly before the structure gave way, revealing that there were visible warning signs before the incident occurred.
Joy shared her experience during an interview with , where she described what she saw as she passed near the building a day before the collapse that has since raised fresh concerns about building safety in the densely populated community.
While narrating the events, the witness explained that she noticed water flowing out of the building and heard residents urgently calling for children to be brought outside, suggesting that occupants were already sensing danger before the structure eventually collapsed.
“As I was coming out yesterday, I saw water coming out from the building. I was hearing ‘bring the children outside,’” Joy said.
Her account indicates that some residents may have been aware that something was wrong with the building and attempted to evacuate vulnerable occupants, particularly children, before the structure came down.
