Why Wike’s Political Challenge to FCT Senator Is Bigger Than Kingibe — Usman Okai

In a video shared by TV Platinum, Okai stated that Wike’s political strength in the FCT should not be measured by the outcome of the recent local council elections. He noted that the real test will come during the general elections when voters will determine who truly represents them.

He also questioned which state the minister would concentrate on during the elections, pointing out that voting in both the FCT and Rivers State will occur on the same day. According to Okai, Wike cannot be present in two places at once to oversee political activities in both areas.

Okai further highlighted the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, explaining that disagreements among political leaders in the state have not been resolved despite several efforts to address the situation. He suggested that the issue might require Wike’s attention.

In addition, he emphasized that Wike is not an indigene of the FCT and therefore does not have the right to vote there.

Okai added that the situation should motivate FCT senator Ireti Kingibe, noting that if an appointed minister appears to be politically challenging an elected representative of the FCT, the matter goes beyond the senator alone.

He concluded by saying that it is now up to the people of the FCT to demonstrate through their votes why their elected representative deserves to remain in office.

According to him, “If the FCT Minister who was appointed is challenging an elected representative of FCT citizens, it means the challenge goes beyond Kingibe.”
