Basheer Lado, the Special Assistant to the President on Senate Matters, alongside his wife, recently hosted a Ramadan Iftar gathering at their residence, bringing together several prominent figures and dignitaries for an evening of reflection and fellowship during the holy month.

In a post shared on his social media platform on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Lado disclosed that the event served as an opportunity to connect with friends and notable guests while observing the spiritual significance of Ramadan. The gathering provided a calm atmosphere for discussions, shared meals, and conversations centered on unity and goodwill.

Among the distinguished guests present at the Iftar was the Honourable Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa. The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Richard Montgomery, also attended the event accompanied by his wife, Ms. Naheem Bilgram. The Brazilian Ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Garcete, was present as well, arriving with his spouse.

The event further drew diplomatic representation from Nigerian envoys abroad. Nigeria’s Ambassador to France, Ayodele Oke, attended the gathering, as did the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Femi Fani-Kayode, who was accompanied by his spouse.

Lado explained that Ramadan holds deep spiritual importance for Muslims around the world, describing it as a period dedicated to reflection, worship, generosity, and community bonding. He expressed appreciation to the guests who honoured the invitation and joined him and his wife for the evening.

According to him, hosting the gathering was a way to celebrate the values associated with Ramadan, particularly unity, mutual respect, and goodwill among people from diverse backgrounds. The Iftar served not only as a religious observance but also as an avenue for strengthening relationships and fostering dialogue among leaders, diplomats, and friends during the sacred period.
