Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, has condemned what he described as an attack on Iran’s civilian infrastructure, saying a branch of one of the country’s oldest banks was bombed while employees were inside.
Araghchi made the claim in a post on X (formerly Twitter), accusing those behind the strike of targeting facilities that serve ordinary citizens.
He said the attack occurred while workers were carrying out their duties ahead of Iran’s New Year, stressing that the employees were focused on ensuring financial services remained available to the public.
According to him, “Iran’s national infrastructure is under attack. This time, a branch of my country’s oldest bank was bombed while full of employees. They were laboring to ensure Iranians have food on the table ahead of our New Year.”
The Iranian foreign minister described the incident as a crime and warned that Iran’s military would respond.
Araghchi added, “Our powerful armed forces will exact retribution for this crime.”
His remarks come amid escalating tensions and exchanges of strikes involving Iran and its adversaries, with both sides accusing each other of targeting civilian infrastructure and causing casualties during the ongoing conflict.
