2027: What Will Happen To Governors Defecting To APC – PDP Chieftain

According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Thursday 12th March 2026, a top official of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Emmanuel Ogigi, has cautioned governors leaving the opposition to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying their political survival in the party could be at risk.

In an interview with Arise News, Ogigi described the APC as a government that has failed to deliver on its promises to Nigerians; He suggested that while some governors are defecting under pressure or coercion, they would soon realize that the party’s structure and internal dynamics are hostile to newcomers.

“They are being coerced to go there, but let me tell you the truth, they cannot fit in; They will return quickly. Survival there is impossible,” Ogigi said.

The warning comes amid a wave of defections from the PDP ahead of the 2027 general elections, reflecting ongoing political realignments and internal crises within the party; Ogigi referred to the APC as a “monster” that undermines both governance and the democratic process, criticizing its failure to fulfill campaign pledges.
