A legal dispute has emerged within the African Democratic Congress following claims that the party’s Federal Capital Territory senator, Ireti Kingibe, remains under suspension despite public denials by party officials.
The development became public after the ward chairman lawyer Maxwell Opara addressed journalists as aired by TV Platinum on Friday, March 13, 2026.
Opara stated that the court action was initiated to obtain an order restraining the senator from continuing to present herself as a member of the ADC.
He explained that the legal move followed disputes surrounding the legitimacy of Kingibe’s suspension and statements reportedly made by the party’s national leadership. “We are here to get an order from court to restrain Senator Ireti Kingibe from further parading herself as a member of the ADC,” Opara said.
