A senior Iranian cleric has urged Pope Leo XIV to condemn the killing of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Alireza Arafi, head of Iran’s religious seminaries and a senior member of the Guardian Council, called on the pope to speak out against what he described as “heinous crimes against humanity” and violations of the dignity of religious leaders. Arafi made the appeal in a letter to the pope on Friday, as quoted by Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.
“We expect you to condemn these heinous crimes against humanity and the disregard for the dignity of religious leaders in a loud and clear voice, and to brand them as incompatible with the teachings of Christianity,” Arafi wrote. See More/Details
