A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has argued that Nigeria’s democratic institutions no longer function independently, claiming the executive, legislature, and judiciary now operate in agreement with one another rather than acting as checks and balances.
Sani made the remarks in a video posted on Symfoni, where he was discussing the recent court judgment affecting the leadership crisis within the PDP.
During the discussion, he said the three arms of government that are meant to strengthen democracy have instead become what he described as a “temple of concurrence,” suggesting that they often align with each other rather than maintaining institutional independence. See More/Details
