In a recent interview with Daily Independent on Friday, March 13, 2026, Comrade Ini Ememobong, National Publicity Secretary of the Taminu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has stated the party will not support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, stating that the PDP remains committed to presenting its own candidates in future elections.
Ememobong made this position clear while speaking about the direction of the party ahead of upcoming political contests, according to him, some people have suggested that the PDP might eventually back the current administration, but he insisted that such an idea does not reflect the party’s plans.
He explained that the leadership of the faction is listening carefully to party members and supporters across the country, as leaders, he said they understand that power within the party comes from the delegates and members who give them the mandate to act on their behalf, because of this, the leadership believes it must reflect the wishes of those members.
