In a recent wave of violence in Kano State, one person identified as Ismael Ahmad Musa has tragically lost his life in Hotoro, Tarauni Local Government Area. His death was confirmed by his brother, Mubarak, on Thursday. The circumstances surrounding Musa’s involvement in the protests remain unclear. He has been buried according to Islamic rites.

In addition to the fatality, another individual has sustained severe injuries and is currently fighting for his life at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH). Reports suggest that this person may have been struck by a stray bullet during the unrest.

The unrest in Kano has also led to significant property damage. The Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) office, a newly constructed facility set to be inaugurated next week, was set ablaze by protesters. The incident was reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), which noted that a large group of youths armed with dangerous weapons took over major roads in the city.

In Hotoro, the violence extended to several businesses, including a filling station and a Rufaida shop, which were also set on fire. The closure of all shops in the area underscores the widespread impact of the unrest.

Residents have expressed growing concern over the deteriorating security situation. Isa Musa from Charanchi in Gwale Local Government Area has described the situation as a serious threat to public safety. He has called for increased police presence to restore order and protect both lives and property.
