In a recent video shared on Facebook on Thursday, March 13, 2026, Niger Delta activist and traditional ruler, Asari Dokubo, reflected on the significance of his chosen name and the meaning it holds within his religious and personal identity.
Dokubo discussed how names in Islamic tradition carry deep spiritual and moral significance, shaping one’s character and guiding principles. He emphasized that adopting a name given by Allah is not only an honor but also a responsibility to live by its meaning.
According to Dokubo, “How can I reject one of the names that Allah has given me? I will accept it with joy and happiness.” He made the statement while referring specifically to his adopted name, Mujahid, which means “he who carries out Jihad” in Arabic, and explained why he embraces it proudly.
