During an interview on Trust TV, political analyst Bello Shagari spoke about Nigeria’s older generation of leaders, using former Head of State Yakubu Gowon as an example of a historic figure who remains active in public life.
Shagari noted that because Gowon played such a prominent role in Nigeria’s earlier political history, many people might assume he belongs only to the past or to history books.
According to him, “We have people like General Yakubu Gowon. When you look at General Yakubu Gowon, if somebody should hear the name of General Yakubu Gowon, he’ll think that he shouldn’t be alive; maybe he’s just in history books.”
He explained, however, that the former military leader is still alive and continues to appear at public functions and national events. See More/Details
