The ministry announced this on Thursday, stating that Ahmed took over the role on July 23, replacing Ibrahim Lamuwa, who faces allegations of sexual harassment from female colleagues.

The ministry’s statement highlighted Ahmed’s qualifications, noting, “Born on 15th October, 1968, in Maiduguri, Borno State, Dr. Ahmed has had an impeccable education and meritorious career, serving in various public organisations and the federal civil service, most recently as the permanent secretary of the federal ministry of youth development.”

In June, Simisola Fajemirokun Ajayi, a married aide to Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, filed a petition accusing Lamuwa of sexual harassment, claiming he touched her inappropriately and invited her to his hotel room on multiple occasions.

A letter to Tinubu last month from ministry officers indicated that Ajayi’s complaint was not the first against Lamuwa, stating that such allegations have been “a recurring feature in his entire public service career.”

Minister Tuggar has requested Folasade Yemi-Esan, the head of the service of the federation, to address the issue properly.
