In a recent interview with The Sun on Saturday, March 14, 2026, the Chairman of the Northern Christian Association (NCA), Reverend Joseph Hayab, has described a recent incident in Zamfara State as an example of the challenges some Christians face in parts of Northern Nigeria.
Hayab said the issue arose after a list for a Direct Short Service recruitment was released, according to him, the list included two candidates from Zamfara whose names clearly reflected Christian backgrounds.
He stated that the appearance of the names immediately brought reactions in some circles, some individuals questioned how candidates with Christian names could appear on a recruitment list linked to Zamfara State, the situation led to debates and raised concerns among some members of the public.
