Some hoodlums on Sunday chased away the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters who gathered at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in the Ojota area of Lagos State. The incident happened after a disagreement amongst the organisers of the protest at the park. The lawyer said: “The president has spoken and we should listen to the president first and see what action the president is going to take.
“If the president says he is going to reduce the fuel pump price, he will tell us. If he says the price of foodstuffs will reduce, he will tell us; but not us trying to…
“Since the president has spoken this morning, let us wait. When it is 1 October and he has not implemented what he said he was going to do, we will carry out the protests again.”
But another group led by a septuagenarian, Adegboyega Adeniji of Peace Action Transformation, insisted that the protest would continue until further notice.
The police were said to have stepped in. After an address by the police to the protesters, a group of hoodlums emerged from the opposite direction of the road and began to disperse the crowd.
In a video by shared by Channels TV on its socials, some of the hoodlums could be seen running and wielding clubs.
The nationwide protest which began on Thursday, has been peaceful in Lagos.
The protesters are protesting against hunger and an end to bad governance in Nigeria.
