According to the Tehran Times, tensions in the Gulf skyrocketed Thursday after Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) announced it had targeted a U.S.-linked vessel in the northern Gulf, sending shockwaves through the world’s most vital shipping corridor.
The IRGC identified the ship as the USS Saif Sea, calling it “an asset” of the U.S. military. “It was targeted in the northern Gulf after ignoring and failing to comply with warnings and alerts,” the military said on its official Sepah News website.
The strike follows a string of recent attacks, including a Liberian-flagged vessel claimed to be Israeli-owned, and a Thai cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. See More/Details
