In a recent interview shared by Channels Television, ADC chieftain, Dele Momodu, spoke about the political calculations within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of future elections.
Momodu suggested that the party may soon face a difficult decision regarding its presidential ticket and internal political balance. According to him, the debate over the same-faith ticket that produced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima could resurface as political alignments begin to shift.
During the interview, Momodu said the party may not be certain about repeating the controversial arrangement in the next election cycle. He stated, “The All Progressives Congress does not know whether it can risk a Muslim-Muslim ticket again. Kashim Shettima is waiting to see who will remove him.”
The media entrepreneur argued that the current situation places the vice president in a delicate position within the ruling party. According to him, political actors within the APC are weighing different options as they consider electoral strategies that could appeal to a broader section of the country.
Momodu also hinted that the issue could create internal debates among party leaders if discussions about restructuring the ticket begin. Analysts believe the controversy surrounding the Muslim-Muslim ticket was one of the most discussed political issues during the 2023 elections.
He added that decisions taken by the APC leadership in the coming months could shape the party’s internal unity and its chances in future national contests.
