BREAKING: JAMB to pre-verify certificates of candidates from UNN, ABU, others before registration

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it will not allow candidates from some institutions to complete their Direct Entry (DE) registration until their certificates were verified by the institutions.<<<<READ  FULL CONTENT

The affected institutions and the number of affected candidates are Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria (565 candidates); University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) (144); Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (61); and Federal University of Technology, Owerri (12).

Others are from Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria (61); Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, Afikpo, Ebonyi State (58); College of Health Technology, Calabar (25); Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Vom, Plateau State (24); and Best Solution Polytechnic, Akure, Ondo State.

Similarly, candidates from Cross River State State College of Education, Akamkpa (91); Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, Maiduguri, Borno State (72); College of Education, Katsina-Ala, Benue State (47); Osun State College of Education, Ila-Orangun, Osun State (27); Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto (25) and College of Education, Waka-Biu, Borno State, were also affected.

JAMB said the issuing institutions have failed to respond to repeated requests for verification of certificates they issued to the candidates, hence it won’t guarantee the chances of the affected candidates to participate in the 2024 DE exercise.

Its spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, in a statement, said the screening measures were put in place to arrest the rampant and embarrassing cases of fake A’level certificates being paraded by some DE candidates.
