Gillett took charge of United’s 4-0 hammering at the hands of Palace, the 4-3 loss at Stamford Bridge – which left MUTV pundits claiming United had been cheated – along with the 3-1 loss to Brighton.

United’s one victory was the 4-3 against Wolves in which Kobbie Mainoo scored a spectacular goal. So Gillett oversaw United conceding 14 goals in four games which won’t be an average that United want to continue here.
Gillett was also on VAR for controversial Alejandro Garnacho offside

One moment which stuck with fans for much of last season was when United were denied taking the lead at the Emirates in the 88th minute through Alejandro Garnacho.

It was a controversial decision and one which Ten Hag looked back at on one of two occasions as a real momentum killer early in the season.

On VAR that day to call for Garnacho’s offside was Gillett, which is another reason United won’t be thrilled by his appointment.

This is all just coincidence and bad luck, but United will not be any more confident with his appointment after how previous meetings went.
