Trump: Did He Say He Was Coming To Kill Nigerians? Take Over Governance Or Attack Aso Rock? Okunniyi
Veteran political strategist and Secretary General of the Eminent Patriots, Olawale Okunniyi, has stated that the recent warning by U.S. President Donald Trump to send troops to Nigeria should not be misunderstood as an invasion plan. He said the intention is to target terrorist strongholds that have made life unbearable for Nigerians, not to interfere with the country’s governance or harm its citizens.
In an interview with Silverbird N24, Okunniyi explained that the U.S. military’s interest lies in dismantling terrorist camps identified through intelligence mapping. He said these camps are responsible for widespread insecurity and hardship across the country. He emphasized that the U.S. action is focused on restoring peace and protecting innocent lives, not on attacking the Nigerian government or its institutions.
Okunniyi said it is misleading for people to suggest that the U.S. wants to take over Nigeria. He believes that many of those criticizing the move are doing so out of fear that international pressure could lead to political change. He said their concern is not about national interest but about preserving their positions in power.
Okunniyi stated,
“When Trump announced that he was coming to invade Nigeria, did he say he was coming to kill Nigerians? Did he say he was coming to take over the governance of Nigeria? Did he say he was going to attack Aso Rock?
