A senior figure in Nigeria’s ruling party, Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma, has defended the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the president’s track record and leadership style have continued to attract support despite internal and external challenges.
Agbonayinma, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), made the remarks during an appearance on TVC News on Monday, March 16, 2026.
During the interview, he argued that many Nigerians and political stakeholders have confidence in the president based on his previous record in public service. “Yes, because Mr. President, they have seen his antecedents. They have seen where he stands. He tells you the way it is,” Agbonayinma said.
He added that the president’s leadership style is marked by consistency and directness in dealing with national issues. “He’s not a president that will tell you one thing today and say another thing tomorrow. He’s very upright. He’s upright,” he stated.
Agbonayinma also acknowledged that the administration faces certain internal pressures, suggesting that some individuals within the political environment are attempting to undermine the president’s efforts. “He’s doing his best, even though there are some Cabal, trying to derail the wheel of his progress,” he said.
While declining to identify specific individuals, the APC chieftain hinted at political tensions within the ruling party. “Well, I don’t need to tell you. You know someone that you know that I’m not. I’m not here to say who is good or bad,” he said.
He further noted that some members of the ruling party may not fully support the president despite being within the same political structure. “Some people don’t seem like this man. They don’t. For what? For no reason. I don’t know. There are some APC members,” Agbonayinma stated.
According to him, political interactions within the party sometimes require caution. “Yeah, there are some that will tell you good morning, better watch that good morning, whether that good morning means well. Well, that’s a discussion for another day,” he said.
Agbonayinma concluded by reiterating that the focus of the administration remains on governance and national development. “But what we are talking about is Mr. President working,” he added.
