Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has appealed to the people irrespective of political, l or religious affiliations to join him in the task to move the state to an enviable height. While assuring that his victory at the poll was opportunity for another level of economic and infrastructural development of the state, the highly elated Governor maintained that Kogi State as blessed with enormous mineral deposits, abundant human and agricultural resources, the people will benefit substantially if they ar united.
“I am calling on every one to join us to develop Kogi State. The State is the only State we can authoritatively claim to be our state. The State is blessed with enormous mineral resources. I am calling on all and sundry to come home and support my administration to serve the state better.
“As a political party, APC has the philosophy of development and as such my doors are wide open for advise. I need your cooperation and support so that together we can take the state to the promised land where the state will be a centre of attraction to other states in the country”, he said.
Governor Ododo also appealed to Nigerians to support President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to enable him achieve his laudable programmes for the nation, saying that the President has put measures in place to ensure the country’s economy is revived to end hardship.
He appreciated the immediate past governor of the state , Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for laying a solid foundation for his lieutenants to serve the people better.
The Governor promised to always abide by the rule of law and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the discharge of his duties and responsibilities, especially the welfare of the people of Kogi State, saying he has no reason to fail them.
In his address the Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Kogi State chapter, Hon. Abdullahi Bello, appealed to Governor Ododo to be magnanimous in victory by allowing some members who left the party to return, having explained what led to their defection from the party prior to the governorship election.
“I congratulate Governor Ododo for the victory. Now that the distractions as a result of litigations are over, the people are expecting you to deliver the more dividend of democracy and we are sure you will not fail them” he stated.
On Wednesday, thousands of people, especially supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) besieged Lokoja, the State capital to receive the victorious Governor as he arrived since the Supreme Court verdict on Friday, affirming his election.
