In a series of coordinated attacks, unknown gunmen targeted the Obowo Police Division in Imo State, resulting in the deaths of three security personnel in the early hours of Wednesday. In a separate but related incident, the secretariat of the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area was also attacked. According to a local resident who requested anonymity for safety reasons, hoodlums stormed the council area, setting vehicles and buildings ablaze. “Many were injured during the attack, and two members of the vigilante group lost their lives in a fierce gun battle with the attackers,” the eyewitness reported. The resident further detailed the chilling events of Tuesday evening, recounting how a young Police Officer was killed at his residence near the NEPA bus stop. “The gunmen spent over forty-five minutes at the officer’s home, meticulously identifying their targets before executing him,” the witness explained. In response to these incidents, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, confirmed that tactical teams have been dispatched to track down and apprehend those responsible for the attacks. “The Command is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice,” Okoye stated.
