Jurgen Klopp to return to management this weekend after accepting first job since Liverpool exit

Throughout his tenure, Klopp won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup as the Merseyside club emerged as the top teams in the sport.

Despite this, the German manager confirmed in January that he would stand down as Liverpool boss at the end of last season and take a break from football manager

Over the summer, Klopp was spotted relaxing while watching the Euro 2024 or on holiday with his family villa in Mallorca but, this weekend he will be making a surprise comeback in the dugout.

On Saturday, former club Borussia Dortmund are putting on a testimonial match for Polish pair Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski.

Signal Iduna Park will host a special tribute game to the Dortmund legends and Klopp, who won two Bundesliga titles with them before joining Liverpool, has got the call up.

Dortmund posted a funny skit on their Instagram page where Klopp’s participation was confirmed.

Piszczek told his compatriot, “We need a coach and I have an idea, we’ll call the retired coach.”

Klopp then appeared, wearing sunglasses and was his usual comedic self on the phone, saying: “You finally have your farewell game. Oh my god. And you want to train before the game. Are you stupid?”

Piszczek then brought up the fact that they still needed to decide which team Klopp would manage, though the Dortmund icon didn’t seem fussed in the slightest.

Klopp admitted: “I couldn’t care less. I don’t worry about it at all. I do it like I used to, I start thinking about it five minutes beforehand. Is the game sold out? I’d buy a ticket if I wasn’t coming anyway!”

At Liverpool, Klopp was succeeded by Dutch manager Arne Slot, who has started his time with the Reds perfectly, winning all three of his matches so far without conceding a single goal.
