According to a report by the Times of Israel on Friday 27 March, 2026, a senior Iranian official has criticized Washington’s approach to the conflict, describing the combination of military strikes and calls for negotiations as contradictory – and ultimately unacceptable.
Speaking amid rising tensions, the official said it makes little sense for the US to be urging talks while at the same time backing or carrying out attacks on Iranian targets. The situation, he suggested, has complicated Tehran’s decision-making, especially when it comes to how – or whether – to engage with recent diplomatic overtures.
“intolerable,” he said, summing up Iran’s view of the mixed signals.
Earlier in the day, Israeli forces hit two Iranian nuclear sites, adding another layer of pressure to an already volatile situation. That development appears to have further delayed Iran’s response to proposals aimed at ending the conflict.
