Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has alleged that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi cannot win the presidency at this stage of Nigeria’s political evolution, despite his personal admiration for the man.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Fayose said, “Obi is a good guy. He is a fantastic guy. But to become president at this time is difficult. I am not dismissing Obi, he will still make some impact,” he said.
Fayose compared Obi’s political momentum to a growth that had been significant in 2023 but fell short of delivering a fatal blow to the establishment. He predicted the same outcome in 2027 even if Obi formed alliances with other opposition forces.
He also argued that Obi himself was unlikely to secure a ADC presidential ticket, questioning whether the effort to join the ADC was worth making if the destination was already out of reach.
