Finidi also said that he was only used as a “scapegoat” by the NFF, who wanted to ‘save their heads’ after a poor World Cup qualifying run in June, where the Eagles played out a 1-1 draw with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, before losing to the Cheetahs of Benin. “One of the officials called him and sent him a message, because they wanted to save their head and deviate the issue on ground (the poor qualifying results),” he opened up. “They used him because they wanted to save their head and use Finidi George to deviate the whole issue. “Osimhen is someone I like, even before becoming the Super Eagles coach. We know he’s a dedicated player. When asked whether he thinks Osimhen should have been sanctioned with a ban from the Super Eagles for his social media ranting, Finidi said: “I don’t know, he is there already, let him be. “We cannot crucify him, he has made a mistake, we have moved on and life goes on.”
