The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has told President Bola Tinubu to stop issuing press statements mourning innocent Nigerians and instead take decisive action to end the cycle of violence, following the deadly Palm Sunday attack in Angwan Rukuba, Gari Ya Waye area of Jos North, Plateau State.
In a statement issued on Monday, CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, described the March 29, 2026 attack as a tragic assault on the Christian community, turning a sacred day of peace, hope, and reflection into one of bloodshed.
Innocent men, women, and children were reportedly hunted and killed when armed men stormed the community in large numbers, disguising themselves in uniforms resembling those of security personnel.
“We mourn; we grieve. But we must also speak the truth. How did we get here? How is it that people can no longer feel safe in their own homes?” Okoh said.
