Darlington Orji, a Special Adviser to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, has alleged that former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi lost the support of the people when he joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). Orji argued that Governor Fubara has an organic support from the people, which is not based on monetary influence. He shared his personal experience as the former spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, revealing that he shifted his support to Sir Sim Fubara due to his character.

“How will you imagine that a sitting governor will be there and another man wants to control the state. Rivers state people has a pattern of followership. They love you and they believe in you as their governor if you are doing what is right. Rotimi Amaechi at a point felt he was so powerful in the state, Rivers State people abandoned him when he took the choice of APC,” Orji stated.

The Special Adviser also pointed out the overwhelming support Governor Fubara received during the last campaign in his local government, despite claims that he may not

have a strong followership. Orji emphasized that the governor’s support is organic and not influenced by money.

“Fubara may not have followership as they claim but in the last campaign in his local government, it was overwhelming. What the governor has is an organic support without money. I was the former spokesman of the PDP in Rivers State, I had to shift and remain with his Excellency Sir Sim Fubara that won 23 local government in Rivers State. That speaks to the character of the governor, it has never happened before. Rivers people have surrounded the governor and they are only waiting for the right time to pass their verdict on this crisis,” Orji said….
