During an interview on Arise Television, Alwan Hassan, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke on recent political developments in Kano State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The remarks come amid notable defections and realignments within the state’s political landscape, including the recent move of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after leaving the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Hassan noted that the loss of influential figures has weakened the APC’s chances of securing a strong foothold in Kano. He explained that these developments come at a critical time, with the elections less than a year away and the party needing to consolidate support in key constituencies.
He also pointed to the departure of former APC gubernatorial candidates in Kano State, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, to ADC as a challenge for the party, emphasizing the need to recalibrate strategies and engage remaining supporters effectively. For Hassan, these shifts are more than just political moves—they represent lost opportunities for electoral gains.
