In a recent interview shared by Arise News, National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, addressed the ongoing leadership crisis within the party, pointing fingers at Nafiu Gombe over the escalating dispute.
Abdullahi alleged that Gombe’s actions have significantly deepened tensions within the party, describing his conduct as deliberate and uncooperative. According to him, efforts were previously made to resolve the matter internally, but those attempts failed to yield results.
Speaking during the interview, Abdullahi stated, “He is determined to be recalcitrant; we know he cannot afford to hire a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.” The remark suggested that external forces may be backing Gombe’s legal challenge, a claim the ADC leadership believes is part of a broader attempt to destabilize the party.

The controversy follows recent developments involving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which suspended recognition of the ADC’s leadership due to conflicting claims and ongoing litigation. This decision has raised concerns within the party about its ability to participate effectively in upcoming electoral activities.
Abdullahi maintained that the crisis is not merely an internal disagreement but one influenced by outside interests seeking to exploit divisions within the opposition. He emphasized that the ADC remains committed to resolving the dispute through lawful means while continuing its political activities.
